Protect Your Paint (Continued) image

Believe it or not, there are some ways to prevent a paint chip disaster. The first is the easiest of all:

  1. Get regular car washes and waxes. Regular washes help to get all the sand, dirt and residue off your vehicle that may be a threat. Believe it or not, a simple wax job can do wonders to protect your paint while driving in windy, sandy conditions. You only need to wax once a month to get the job done. You should never wax in direct sunlight to get the best results.
  2. When possible, park in a garage or carport. We can all get in the habit of just leaving our vehicles in the driveway or on the street, but if you can, you should always park in covered areas. Inside your garage, try to keep all bicycles, tools and gardening equipment on the opposite side of the vehicle when possible. A bike handlebar scratch can be one of the most costly and noticeable scratches, so simply reducing the likelihood of it happening can save you big time.
  3. Invest in a paint sealant if you are serious about protecting your paint. You can ask about the price for this service at Fox Valley Volkswagen or visit your local auto detailing shop. This sealant puts a shield between your paint and debris, making it the most durable option available.

If you are ready to repair any scratches or chips in your paint, be sure to stop at Fox Valley Volkswagen to talk about all your options from affordable touchups and more.
